Theatre and Dance Department
Wittenberg’s Theatre and Dance Department provides students with meaningful opportunities to explore creativity, collaboration, and performance both on stage and behind the scenes. Through productions, coursework, and hands-on experiences, students develop artistic skills, confidence, and leadership while contributing to a vibrant arts community on campus and in Springfield.
This year we are celebrating the retirement of Debbie Henderson, Ph.D., who served for more than 30 years as costume designer for the Wittenberg University Department of Theatre and Dance and contributed to the Springfield arts community for many years. Alumni, students, colleagues, and friends are invited to attend a special matinee performance of Pride@Prejudice directed by alumnus Corey Ragan ’15 at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, followed by a reception honoring Debbie from 4:30–6:30 p.m. RSVP for the reception and/or the performance.
Commit to Witt, Wittenberg University's annual day of giving, takes place on March 19, 2026, and provides an opportunity for alumni, families, and friends to invest directly in the continued work of the Theatre and Dance Department. Your gift supports productions, costumes, set design, student opportunities, and the creative experiences that define theatre and dance at Wittenberg.
Chip Meyrelles ’76 and Laurie Connor are proud supporters of the Arts at Wittenberg. During Commit to Witt, they have committed $7,500 in support of the Theatre and Dance Department. For each of the next 25 gifts made in support of the department, $300 will be unlocked until the full $7,500 challenge gift is released.
On March 19, support the Theatre and Dance Department and help continue the tradition of creativity, performance, and artistic excellence at Wittenberg.
