First-generation college students often encounter academic and social challenges in their transition to Wingate University. As the first in their family to attend college, their support needs are different because they do not have the same experiences as students whose parents/guardians have graduated college. The First-Generation Bulldog Program helps first-generation students in their acclimation to college by providing peer mentorship, academic skills workshops, social activities and enrichment programs to ease their transition and build confidence on campus.
Your generous gift is sure to impact a first-gen student in some way, shape or form. Something as small as creating their first resume or learning the financial aid process to help their parents fill out the FAFSA can make a world of difference for a student navigating the college experience for the first time.
