About

Lizbeth Jackson served the William & Mary Law School community for over 20 years, acting in roles from Legal Skills Program Assistant to Dean. She oversaw millions of dollars of facility maintenance, construction, and redesign. Her care for the law school and its people was unceasing. She tragically passed away on February 27, 2018, leaving behind a legacy of service and commitment to the law school’s success.

One of her many significant contributions at the end of her life was her support for a surging student mission to install a flagpole outside the law school. She had already undertaken many tasks, to include the development of prototypes and estimates, prior to student interest. Her love of country arose from her role as the daughter and spouse of veterans. Lizbeth and her husband Carl lived around the world during Carl’s service before they finally called Williamsburg home.

After Dean Jackson’s passing, the decision was made to carry on the mission of raising a flag outside the law school in Dean Jackson’s honor. In recognition of her years of service, her devotion to her country, her family, her church, her community, and in remembrance of the many veterans who have called William & Mary Law School home over the years, we seek to finally complete this project as a fitting tribute.

With nearly $23,000.00 raised towards the project, we seek to surpass the $40,000.00 mark to enter the estimate range for a memorial flagpole and surrounding patio. This addition to the Law School campus will provide a quiet place for contemplative reflection and sanctuary. Any excess funds raised will be donated to the Lewis B. Puller, Jr. Veterans Benefits Clinic, to aid their tireless mission to serve veterans, in Dean Jackson’s name.
