Your contribution to the Batten School & VIMS on One Tribe One Day supports science-driven solutions for marine ecosystems and coastlines, and the millions of livelihoods they sustain.
This year, the VIMS Foundation Board has challenged us to use the One Tribe One Day event to bring new people into the VIMS community as donors. If 65 people make a first-time gift to the Batten School & VIMS on April 29, the VIMS Impact fund will receive $175,000 from generous members of the VIMS Foundation Board.
If you are a first-time supporter, your gift brings us one step closer to securing critical support for our scientists and students. And if you’re a long-time supporter, please make a gift and share this opportunity with a friend, colleague or family member. One new donor could make all the difference. We need your help to unlock our challenge gift.
Why it is important to act now: The Batten School & VIMS has been a leader in federally funded coastal and marine research for decades. For example, the inception of the Sea Scallop Research Program in the early 1980s supported the sustainable recovery of the then-overfished but now highly valuable fishery. Our research has revealed information about coastal erosion and prevention strategies, the presence of microplastics in our water systems and ecosystems, and the restoration of sea grasses to reintroduce Bay scallops and other important life into the Chesapeake system.
In a time of federal funding uncertainty, gifts to the unrestricted VIMS Impact Fund provide critical flexibility to sustain this essential research. Your gift on One Tribe One Day helps our scientists bridge funding gaps and respond to emerging challenges while empowering Batten School students and expanding public outreach.
For decades, the Batten School & VIMS have driven key solutions. Your investment keeps VIMS science moving forward and helps ensure the health of coastal ecosystems that communities in Virginia, the nation and the world rely on.
Please make a gift today.
