Film and Media Studies

Film & Media Studies is an interdisciplinary program dedicated to exploring the significance of film and media in representing and shaping cultures, societies, histories and collective and personal identities. Our program integrates critical classroom learning, hands-on production experience and interdisciplinary collaboration, exemplifying the best of a William & Mary education. This approach not only prepares students for diverse careers but also cultivates informed, responsible citizens.

We have ambitious goals for Film & Media Studies at W&M, and we need your help to achieve them. Your donation will directly support our students and enhance their academic and creative experiences.

Your gift can help recognize student excellence and creativity through awards. It can provide resources for students to develop their own research and media projects, particularly those undertaken during the summer. It will allow us to bring distinguished speakers, filmmakers, and media-makers to campus, enriching the learning experience for our students and the broader community. Your support can also help students pursue off-campus internships, giving them hands-on experience in the field. Additionally, contributions will sustain the Ampersand International Arts Festival (formerly the W&M Global Film Festival), an annual celebration of global film and media.
