Title: The Application of Emerging Technology to Artistic Design
Department: Art
Description: With the emergence of new technologies the value of technical skill and expressive creation has diminished. The development of AI technologies and human mimicking machinery has begun to encroach upon the space that artists work in. This research explores emergent technologies as new mediums by which artists can create and analyzes the competitive relationship between the two. The study asks to what extent does the use of technology limit creative expression and in what ways can the two be integrated. The study also explores the effects of emergent technology in the commercial side of art, examining community feedback to AI development, technological utilization, and digitization of visual assets.
