Title: The Frogs of the Tribe: Identifying the Home Range and Dispersion of Anurans in Williamsburg
Department: Biology
Description: The purpose of this project is to assess the movements and habitat use of various species of frogs and toads in Williamsburg, including and up to Cope's Grey Tree frogs, Fowler's toads, American toads, Southern Leopard frogs, and Pickerel frogs. Many species of amphibians face challenges due to the spread of diseases, pollution of the aquatic environments, and habitat fragmentation. In order to identify the habitat needs of these species of amphibians, they must be tracked. This tracking is to be done with technology called radio-transmitters and harmonic radar tracking. Data from this tracking will be used to identify what environments these species use, and how big of a space they need to live.
