Fuel a hub of discovery where past, present, and future meet! 💫
The Eugene S. Farley Library, named for Wilkes University's first president, sits at the heart of campus. It houses over 175,000 print books, 350,000 e-books, and 85,000 online journals, making it one of the region's largest libraries. Gifts directed towards the Eugene S. Farley Library will be used toward providing archival fellowships for current Wilkes students with a desire to gain experience processing and digitizing archival collections and receive hands-on experience working with 18th, 19th, and early 20th century manuscripts and artwork. This archival experience not only allows students to gain an edge in humanities-related career fields but it also supports our academic programs with future access to institutional and regional history collections. Many students who participate in these fellowships will practice their organizational, writing, and research skills that will aid them in their post-graduate careers.
Additionally, gifts directed to the Wilkes University Archives will provide the department with the means to purchase archival document boxes, folders, and sleeves so that students may learn how to preserve these special collections for future generations. These preservation supplies prevent further deterioration and decay to the archival collections.
