Gifts to Parent Mentor Program contribute to...
Strengthening classrooms through family engagement.
The WIU Parent Mentor Program is a nationally recognized initiative that builds stronger school communities by connecting trained parent and guardian volunteers with local classrooms. Serving schools in Macomb and across Illinois for more than 30 years, the program helps improve student outcomes while fostering meaningful family-school partnerships.
Through partnerships with local schools, parent mentors support teachers and students by working in classrooms in small groups or one-on-one settings. Participants receive ongoing training, professional development, and leadership development opportunities, along with stipends for their service after completing required volunteer hours.
This program helps close equity gaps, strengthen learning environments, and empower parents as active contributors in their childrenβs education.
During the Western Challenge, every gift makes an immediate impact on students, families, and schools across the region.
