The 'Necks' Big Thing in Promoting Literacy
The America Reads program, a federal initiative, pairs student volunteers from Western Illinois University with children who may be struggling with literacy. The program, supported by faculty experts, improves reading skills through one-on-one or small group sessions, fostering community literacy while engaging Western students in outreach.
Your Western Challenge gift to America Reads will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $500. This money will provide essential resources such as books, manipulatives, stickers, and educational games to enhance the learning experience for children in need.
Additionally, your gift will provide transportation assistance for student volunteers who lack access to their own vehicles.
