A major project is in the works to recognize Dale Hopper, legendary Director of the Marching Leathernecks, by renaming the WIU Band Practice Field and constructing a new storage building on the field in his honor. On the Western Challenge, we'd like to raise the next $5,000 towards this effort.
Dale created a tradition that strengthened the commitment to each member of the Marching Leatherneck family as individuals while bonding the ensemble as a true musical family. He truly was a dynamic individual who touched every corner of campus with his care, professionalism, and confidence in his students.
We know you will agree his memory is worthy of its place at Western.
With your contribution, the new “Hopper Field” will serve as our celebration of his legacy, a lasting testament to his impact on the Leatherneck community, and for many of us, a showing of gratitude for his teaching, friendship, and mentorship.
