Gifts to Support WVSOM CASE Camp! contribute to...
CASE Camp is a transformative, week‑long program designed to give high school students a rare, hands‑on look into human anatomy and the world of healthcare. This fully free experience provides an immersive pathway for students exploring future careers in medicine, especially osteopathic medicine. Participants engage in:
- Hands-on anatomy labs
- Exposure to a real medical school classroom environment
- Instruction directly from WVSOM medical school faculty
- Opportunities to interact with current osteopathic medical students
- A small, focused class size of just 15 students These experiences—typically reserved for medical students—give high school juniors, seniors, and recent graduates an incredible early opportunity to “develop X‑ray vision” for human anatomy and learn how osteopathic medicine approaches care for the mind, body, and spirit. Applications usually open in March, and the camp takes place in June, running Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students spend each day deeply engaged in lab activities, hands-on instruction, and guided exploration of healthcare careers.
Why Support Is Needed
CASE Camp is intentionally offered at no cost to ensure that motivated students—regardless of financial background—can participate. To keep this opportunity accessible and high‑quality, community and donor support is essential. Contributions help cover:
- Cadaver lab materials and safety equipment
- Educational supplies and teaching resources
- Student interns
- Student learning tools for anatomy and medical activities By supporting CASE Camp, donors play a vital role in inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals. Their support opens doors for students who may not otherwise have access to this level of academic and experiential learning. Each gift directly fuels a program that can spark lifelong passions and shape future careers in medicine.
