The Society at WCU (formerly the Frederick Douglass Society) annually sponsors the Frederick Douglass Legacy Scholarship to deserving undergraduate and graduate West Chester University students. The scholarship supports student success by enhancing their education through high impact learning opportunities in any of the following initiatives:
- To purchase textbooks
- To attend a professional conference
- To complete an internship, academic, or professional training experience
- To conduct or advance a research project
- To engage in service learning
- To participate in study abroad or other educational travel
In addition to the Frederick Douglass Legacy Scholarship, The Society also supports the Drum Major for Justice Award presented at annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebratory Events in January.
