Giving Day contributions of every size make a major difference! Support the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library today or give to another area that helps the University Libraries.
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library (DPIL) is an international program that promotes early childhood literacy by providing free books to children from birth to age five. Enrolled children receive one age-appropriate book delivered to their home every month at no out-of-pocket cost. Established more than 30 years ago, the Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children worldwide.
The Wayne State University Library System partners with the Imagination Library to serve families in the 48201 and 48202 zip codes in Detroit where the university’s main campuses are located.
In 2026, the WSU DPIL program will expand to include children living in Detroit’s 48209 and 48210 zip codes. Generous support from G.E.H.A. and previous Giving Day donors has made this possible. Thank you!
WSU's DPIL program also partners with local organizations and businesses to offer literacy experiences for Detroit children and their families. WSU Library System members inspired by Dolly Parton’s work launched the local program in 2020 and strives to get books into the hands of the littlest Detroiters and support the love of reading.
Gifts made to the WSU Imagination Library program go directly to providing books for registered children in Detroit. Just $32 covers the cost for a child to receive 12 high-quality Imagination Library books throughout an entire year. $160 fully funds 60 books for one child over five years, their entire Imagination Library experience. Help us continue to grow and bring us closer to our goal of covering the entire city of Detroit!
Achieve your charitable goals and create your WSU legacy with a gift in your estate plan.
