Mortuary Science

• Increase your impact! On Giving Day, A.J. Desmond & Sons is providing a 2-to-1 match for donations to the Mortuary Science Annual Fund or the Mortuary Science Scholarship Fund – up to $5,000!

The Mortuary Science Annual Fund provides students with the resources that they need to reduce the financial burden as they train to learn the skills necessary to serve their communities with distinction and care.

The Mortuary Science Annual Scholarship Fund provides critical financial support to students who are committed to training in mortuary science and serving their communities.

Nurse Anesthesia

• The WSU Nurse Anesthesia program is seeking support to enhance student training through investment in advanced simulation equipment. Thanks to the generosity of Uniprop and the Family Heritage Fund, gifts made on Giving Day to the Nurse Anesthesia Annual Fund will be matched 3:1, tripling your impact up to $30,000, and support NA equipment needs such as:

Pediatric Learning: The program is seeking support to purchase the STAT Baby Advanced, a high-fidelity infant simulator (approximately $27,000) that enables students to safely practice lifesaving skills like intubation in realistic scenarios.

Hands-on Learning: The program also seeks funding for a high-fidelity needle trainer (approximately $48,000) to help students develop sono-anatomy knowledge and master needle-to-target techniques.

Your gift will help prepare the next generation of nurse anesthetists to deliver exceptional care to every patient—especially the most vulnerable.

Pathologists Assistant

• Double your impact! On Giving Day, Dr. Peter and Mrs. Karen Frade will match all gifts to the Pathologists Assistant Program Scholarship – up to $1,500.

The Pathologists Assistant Program Scholarship supports aspiring professionals dedicated to advancing the field of pathology through excellence in education, research, and patient care. This scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate strong academic achievement, a commitment to the laboratory sciences, and a passion for contributing to diagnostic medicine. By reducing financial barriers, the program empowers future Pathologists Assistants to focus on rigorous training and professional development, preparing them to play a critical role in modern health care.

STELLA Lab

The STELLA Lab (STudent Education Learning aLongside Animals) is an interdisciplinary wellness and research initiative within the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Led by occupational therapy faculty and students, the lab’s weekly Drop-In Therapy Dog Clinics provide a welcoming, judgment-free space where students can de-stress, recharge, and connect through the comfort of certified therapy dogs.

These sessions help reduce anxiety, improve focus, and foster belonging—especially for students who may not seek traditional mental health support. As our initial funding ends in early 2026, your gift will help sustain this vital program and advance new research exploring how animal-assisted wellness influences stress, resilience, and academic success.
