Students earning a degree in sociology graduate with important career competencies that include use of quantitative, qualitative and experimental techniques and theoretical lenses to understand complex human behaviors, social problems and inequities for advanced careers in medicine, law, public policy, government, business, academia and the non-profit sector.

• Gifts supporting the Sociology Department Annual Fund help provide department-specific resources. These include expanding the department’s ability to support a wide range of experiential learning opportunities, paid internships, departmental events and programs, funding for research, and more. Your contribution helps to offset costs related to student research and conference travel. Gifts to this fund also support the new Prison Education Program (PEP) that offers classes and a degree to incarcerated students. The program, which began this academic year, will provide a five-year Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology to students at Macomb Correctional Facility in Michigan.
• Contributions to the Sociology Department Scholarship Fund help impact students by making education more accessible – keeping the department competitive with peers and ensuring that students have the financial support they need to complete their educational programs.
