- Double your impact! Jennifer Gustafson is providing a dollar-for-dollar match for gifts to WSU’s Dolly Parton Imagination Library – up to $500!
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library (DPIL) is an international program that promotes early childhood literacy by offering enrolled children ages 0-5 one age-appropriate book every month, delivered to their door at no out-of-pocket cost. Celebrating its 30th year in 2025, DPIL mails more than 2 million books each month to children throughout the United States, Australia, Canada, the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom. As of 2023, the program has gifted over 200 million books to children worldwide.
The Wayne State University Library System affiliate of the Imagination Library serves the 48201 and 48202 zip codes in Detroit where the University’s main campuses are located. Launched in 2020 by WSU Library System members, WSU's affiliate chapter of DPIL is inspired by Dolly Parton’s work and strives to get books into the hands of the littlest Detroiters.
Gifts made to the WSU affiliate of the Imagination Library go toward the cost of books for registered children in Detroit. $32 covers the cost for a child to receive 12 high-quality Imagination Library books throughout an entire year. $160 fully funds 60 books for one child over five years, their entire Imagination Library experience. WSU's affiliate chapter of DPIL partners with local organizations and businesses to offer programming for Detroit children and their families. Help us grow and bring us closer to our goal of covering the entire city of Detroit!
