๐Ÿ”Ž About

In 1958, a dedicated group of local citizens recognized the growing need for accessible higher education and workforce training in Dubois County and the surrounding region. In response, they formed the Committee on Higher Education and Related Events (COHERE), a group whose vision and advocacy would lay the foundation for expanded educational opportunities in the area. Their efforts ultimately inspired Vincennes University to establish a presence in jasper, and in the fall of 1970, the university opened a center that would become known as Vincennes University Jasper.

That first semester marked a humble beginning, with just twenty full-time students attending classes held in various buildings around the Jasper town square. Despite its modest start, the program quickly gained momentum. Just four years later, the Jasper campus opened its first permanent facility—now known as the Administration building—located at 850 College Avenue.

Today, Vincennes University Jasper has grown into a vibrant and welcoming learning environment situated on approximately 140 acres of scenic rolling hills, green space, and wooded areas. The campus now features multiple facilities, including the Administration Building, the Arnold F. Habig Building, the Alvin C. Ruxer Student Center, and the Center for Technology, Innovation, and Manufacturing. Together, these spaces support a diverse academic community, serving approximately 500 students across more than 25 programs of study.

In addition to its academic offerings, the campus is also home to the Jasper Arts Center, which enriches both campus life and the broader community through arts and cultural programming.
