Ben lost his life tragically on July 7, 2024, protecting his family from an intruder in their home. Ben was known for three things. His ability to inspire awe with the way he could dunk a basketball. His talent to entertain and bring laughter to any room, and blasting his favorite music just about anywhere he went. Ben was pursuing his dream of becoming a music producer and believed he could heal the world with music. His professor referred to him as one of the best in the program. He was proud of his achievements as a student and seeing his name on the president's and dean's lists.
We are all so saddened that we won’t be able to see where he would have taken his passion. Ben's family, friends, and community want to give someone else the opportunity to get where they knew he was going. Creating the Ben Lyons Memorial Jam Scholarship will help Music Business and Industry students at Vermont State University purchase a Macbook and the software (pro-tools) needed to perform in the industry.
