Support Undergraduate Research Today!

The Gateway to Research Program opens the door to research for undergraduate students who might not otherwise get the chance. The program is designed for first- and second-year students, including first-generation students, students without existing connections to faculty, and students who simply didn't know research was an option for them. It provides funding to hire entry-level undergraduates to work on faculty-led research across all disciplines. Over a 10-week summer experience, students are paired with a faculty mentor and supported through individual peer mentoring and workshops hosted by the Office of Research.

For many students, this is their first real experience in a lab or research setting and often, it's a moment that changes the trajectory of their education. There is strong evidence that research involvement has a significant impact on student success at USU and prepares students to thrive in their careers after graduation, building skills in communication, leadership, and professionalism that last well beyond the summer. Your support helps ensure that opportunity isn't limited to students who already know how to find it. Instead, it's open to any student willing to engage.
