Our scholars sometimes face unexpected financial hardships that can derail their academic progress and even force them to abandon their educational plans:
“Because of accumulated hospital bills for myself and my son, I won’t be able to pay my school fees on time.”
“An unexpected $1,800 medical expense wiped out my savings, and I can’t pay this semester’s tuition.”
“We have a huge medical bill for my wife, who has no health insurance, and we’re struggling to pay for rent and utilities.”
“I have an unexpected medical bill I can’t afford. I’m working hard as a doctoral student in chemistry and I don’t want to give up.”
“Our child was in NICU for two months. The medical bills have drained our savings, and we’re struggling to pay for rent and food.”
Our students provide much of their own financial support as they strive to pursue rigorous degree programs, teach classes, conduct research and aim for academic excellence. These students make critical contributions to Utah State’s teaching and research prowess, which are integral to the success of USU’s land-grant, space-grant mission.
Your gift to the College of Science Student Hardship Fund could ease a scholar’s stressful burden, and make the difference in keeping them on course toward successful completion of their USU degree.
Light the way today to enable a student to pursue their dream of higher education and a better future, as well as aiding Utah State in its efforts to educate our next generation of scientists, mathematicians, and statisticians who will benefit our global community.
