The University of Wyoming has a large global reach—the world needs more cowboys—but we also need to bring the world to the Cowboys! The University of Wyoming Model Arab League Club is an organization run by students for students. We are a part of the larger network of Model Arab League Clubs across the nation, which is connected to the Council for U.S.–Arab Relations.
Model Arab League is a student-led diplomacy competition program that seeks to simulate and resolve issues in the Middle East and North Africa. This program allows UW students to interact with their fellow students across the country, to engage in Middle Eastern and North African cross-cultural exchanges, and to network with academic and career-oriented organizations focused on the Middle East and North Africa.
Every spring, the University of Wyoming has the honor of hosting the Model Arab League Rocky Mountain Conference. We bring students, faculty, and experts from all around the Rocky Mountain West to participate. The University of Wyoming Model Arab League sends its delegation to Washington, D.C., to participate in the National Model Arab League Conference. We’ve won lots of awards and placed fourth out of 20 universities for the last four years. We’ve also been able to give students the opportunity to network and grow, which this conference provides. We’ve even been able to converse with staff from the embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco, the International Monetary Fund, international aid and development organizations, and the Wyoming congressional delegation.
However, hosting and traveling to these conferences brings with it challenges. It takes a lot of effort and financial resources to facilitate these initiatives. In the past, we’ve only been able to achieve these accomplishments through generous contributions from donors, foundations, and organizations. All gifts will be put toward student-led initiatives sending students to compete in Washington, D.C., hosting our Rocky Mountain conference in Laramie, and bringing many cross-cultural resources to the community.
Your support is deeply appreciated—thank you for your gift! Help us bring Wyoming to the world by bringing the world to Wyoming.
