The University of Wyoming hosts a vibrant community of international students, significantly enriching Laramie and the state with diverse cultures. A notable portion comes from the South Asian diaspora, including students from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal, who pursue their American dreams and contribute to the economy.
Our organization, MILAAP, meaning āfriendship within the community,ā is an ASUW-authorized group representing students from eight countries. With over 500 members, we organize events that foster connections between international students and the local community. Our signature event, Diwali Night, attracts around 500 attendees, showcasing South Asian culture through performances and cuisine.
This Giving Day, we seek your support to establish a $1,000 merit-based scholarship for newly arriving international students. This scholarship will help ease their transition and encourage more South Asian students to join our community.
Join us in empowering the dreams of international students. Your support can make a meaningful difference in their journeys. Thank you!
