The Department of History has some of the best students and faculty at UW! All have achieved amazing success, but we need your help to continue to fly higher than ever before.
Our students are winning awards and scholarships and uncovering fantastic new ways to bring history to everyone. For example, Rebecca Lovell won a Jamestowne Society Alice Massey-Nesbitt History Fellowship Award to study at the Jamestown archives. She also published an article in the Jamestowne Society Magazine titled “The Male Ordeal: Early Modern Masculinity in Jamestown, 1607-1622.” Please help us fund the research projects that our students are excited about exploring—whether it is a summer internship in Cody at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West or a trip to the State Archives in Cheyenne.
Please help our students by supporting our program. With your support, our students’ dreams can become realities, and our faculty can continue to provide our next generation of young Americans with exceptional courses at the University of Wyoming. Thank you for your support!
Additionally, join us in celebrating the new Phil Roberts Fellowship in Wyoming History and the West:
Dr. Phil Roberts is a beloved professor emeritus of the History department at UW. A Wyoming native, Dr. Roberts began his tenure at UW in 1990, teaching thousands of UW students. His focus is Wyoming history and the American West, and legal, environmental, and natural resources history. Dr Roberts wrote the book on Wyoming history – literally. His 700-page Wyoming Almanac, which is co-authored by his two brothers, covers the state’s history writ large. It is currently in its 8th edition. Dr. Roberts’s advice to everyone is, “Walk the walk and see what people do.” There are few UW alumni who didn’t take a class from Dr. Roberts, and his contributions to our state’s public life are immeasurable.
Through the Phil Roberts Fellowship in Wyoming History and the West, UW ensures that Dr. Roberts’s legacy will live on and that students will continue to learn about the fascinating history of Wyoming and the West!
Your support gives us the tools to make this fellowship even more impactful for our students!
