Humans are captivated by birds because of their beauty, diversity, and capacity for flight, and University of Wyoming students are no exception. Yet, for many students, it can be difficult to gain paid hands-on experience with birds—skills needed for careers in the field of ornithology.
WYOBIRD, the Wyoming Bird Initiative for Resilience and Diversity (www.wyobird.org), provides undergraduate and graduate students with opportunities to work directly with our feathered friends. Our mission is to advance knowledge, appreciation, and conservation of birds locally and globally, and we achieve this by conducting novel research on birds, training a new generation of scientists, and sharing science through public outreach.
Your gift on Giving Day helps pay stipends to undergraduate avian interns who will gain hands-on experiences with birds. With $4,200 we can support six undergraduates working at the fall banding station, and an additional $3,800 supports one summer intern working at our nest box study.
Please support our mission so that UW students of all backgrounds contribute to bird conservation in Wyoming and beyond. Thank you!
