Men's Rugby Club

Established in 1972 by students, our Men’s Rugby team is a founding member of the elite collegiate division, D1A, and competes in the Rocky Mountain West division. We play notable teams such as CU Boulder, BYU, Colorado State, Air Force, Utah State, Utah Valley, and New Mexico. Our rugby program has had a heck of lot of success based on building very tightknit cohesive teams that play with passion for the game and for their brotherhood.

Your support on Giving Day provides academic scholarships for players on the team, helping them cover their costs of attaining a high-quality education at UW. It supports them so that they can represent UW well on the rugby pitch! 

And your gift will have double the impact because there is a matching fund of $20,000 that doubles the amount you give! This matching fund will be split between the Alumni Scholarship and the Eike Sheldon R. Rugby Scholarship—and all of it will support Men's Rugby.

Here are some of our accomplishments:

• National Championship runner-up in 2000,
• three National Final Four teams, and
• eight National Sweet 16 teams.

In 2016 and 2017, we represented the Rocky Mountain Conference at the College Rugby National Championships.

Our players have achieved the following:

• five USA Eagles—players who have represented our country in international play,
• nineteen All-Americans, and
• two players invited to Olympic Training Center in San Diego.
