Our UW Equestrian Team are riders from beginners to experts who have a love of the sport. The Equestrian Team offers co-ed competition for riders of all levels in Western horsemanship and hunt seat equitation.
Western horsemanship evaluates the rider’s skill in performing a set of stipulated maneuvers, and judging is based on the degree of precision and smoothness in executing seven to nine maneuvers and requires the horse and rider to work in precise and complete unison. Hunt seat is one of the two forms of English riding, the other being dressage. In hunt seat equitation, riders are judged on proper form and style, including position and style both over fences and on the flat.
We are open to all levels of riders, and participants do not need a personal horse to participate. In addition, riders are not required to compete, and so everyone can join.
Thank you for considering supporting the UW Equestrian Team!
