Support PharmD Experiential Education
Experiential learning is the cornerstone of the University of Utah College of Pharmacy curriculum, accounting for 40% of a student's education. These hands-on rotations place students in real-world pharmacy settings where they apply classroom knowledge, build confidence, and prepare to care for patients from day one.
PharmD students complete (9) rotations during their P3 and P4 years, supported by more than 500 preceptors nationwide. Many of these experiences—including rural, industry, and government placements—require students to travel across the state or country.
While tuition and local housing costs remain constant, students must also cover:
• Travel and transportation expenses
• Temporary housing
These financial pressures can limit students' placement options and add stress during an already demanding phase of their education.
Make an Impact
Support for Experiential Education will help ensure that all PharmD students—regardless of financial circumstance—can take advantage of rotations outside of the Wasatch Front area. Your support will allow students to:
• Accept high-quality rotation placements
• Focus on learning and patient care rather mounting debt
• Gain exposure to diverse practice settings that shape their careers
