For nearly 40 years, the Lowell Bennion Center for Community Engagement has provided high-impact volunteer, leadership, and experiential learning opportunities for students, staff, faculty, and community members, bringing motivated young talent to support Utah's incredible non-profit community. Last year, Bennion Center volunteers contributed over 45,000 + hours of service to our non-profit partners, helping them extend their reach and make positive change in our community.
The Bennion Center helps students find community, purpose, and belonging through hands‑on engagement. Students can join one‑time projects like Saturday Service Projects and the Service Corner, take part in semester programs such as Community Partner Programs and Alternative Breaks, or commit to year‑long roles through student leadership and Utah Reads. With 150+ community partners, the Center connects students to real‑world learning in areas like environmental sustainability, health and wellness, mentorship, education, and more.
Community partners consistently say that Bennion Center student volunteers are essential. Their energy, reliability, and compassion strengthen organizations, expand critical services, and help deliver resources that make a meaningful impact. The Bennion Center is proud of the difference students make and grateful to the supporters who make these opportunities possible.
For generations, the Bennion Center has shaped University of Utah students into community‑minded leaders. Students build lasting friendships, develop a passion for civic engagement, and carry forward a deep commitment to service. Your support helps students lead tomorrow—while creating positive change today
