With all the news about department closures, we want to assure you that our queer studies teaching and learning will continue under new auspices--and with new challenges. Now is a fantastic time to support our LGBTQ+ Studies students by contributing to the Casey McKittrick Endowed Excellence Endowment, which supports our undergraduate programming and student internships.
The LGBTQ Studies Program is extremely grateful to have received a generous donation from Alexandra Barron (UT PhD 2005) to establish the Casey McKittrick Endowed Excellence Endowment in LGBTQ Studies. Casey McKittrick was a scholar, a writer, a teacher, a beloved son and unforgettably warm and hilarious friend. During PhD studies in the English department at The University of Texas at Austin from 1998-2005, Casey was part of an important cohort of queer studies students (including Alex Barron) who helped start the LGBTQ Studies Research Cluster in the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies (CWGS). The LGBTQ Studies Program grew out of the Research Cluster, and Casey’s dissertation was co-directed by the Program’s Founding Director, Ann Cvetkovich, and Janet Staiger, CWGS Director from 2001-2004.
Your donations to the Casey McKittrick Endowed Excellence Endowment will be used to support students in the LGBTQ Studies Program through scholarships and programming.
Every donation helps our department provide enriching academic programming and research funding to undergraduate and graduate students across campus.
