College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences

Through its seven departments and 12 centers, the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences (CEHHS) enhances the quality of life for all through research, outreach, and practice.

Your generous support of CEHHS furthers our mission to develop, encourage, and prepare innovative leaders who influence, improve, and inspire a healthy, educated, civil and vibrant society.   

The work of this college is amazing and also inspirational. From research in our Department of Nutrition focused on the genetic mechanisms contributing to the development of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, to outreach like FUTURE, a comprehensive program that helps young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities experience college life, our impact is changing the world.  Other highlights include:  

• To meet the growing need for teachers, CEHHS currently has over 800 students enrolled in the educator preparation pipeline, a substantial increase from the under 300 enrolled in the 2019-2020 academic year. 

• Our faculty are nationally recognized experts in their respective fields. In fact, Dr. Robert Kelchen is considered a Top-25 scholar influencer by "Education Week" and Dr. Hollie Raynor is lending her expertise to the U.S Department of Health and Human Services in the development of updated dietary guidelines. 

• Outstanding alumni, such as Tony Brown, work to improve the quality of life through community engagement programs like “Heart of Los Angeles,” which uses sports to unify young people in a nurturing environment and keeps them out of trouble.
