The Outdoor Recreation and Park Management Equipment Fund in the School of Natural Resources supports the purchase, maintenance, and replacement of essential equipment for hands-on learning beyond the classroom and technical rescue training. This fund ensures students have access to safe, reliable gear to develop skills for careers in outdoor recreation, park management, and emergency response.
Funding will support five key areas: camping, travel and van transportation, rock climbing and technical rescue, swiftwater rescue and whitewater paddling, and first aid. Needed equipment includes tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, camping supplies, transportation resources, climbing ropes, harnesses, helmets, rescue systems, kayaks, paddles, personal flotation devices, throw bags, first-aid kits, and emergency medical supplies.
These resources allow students to build practical skills in outdoor leadership, teamwork, risk management, and emergency response. Funding will also help maintain and replace worn or outdated equipment to promote safety and reliability during field experiences.
By investing in this fund, donors help make outdoor education more accessible while preparing students to become skilled, confident, and safety-conscious professionals. The fund supports meaningful outdoor experiences and equips future leaders to manage recreational areas, lead outdoor programs, and respond to emergencies in challenging environments.
