Baby Seven was a foal who received extraordinary care at the College of Veterinary Medicine, and his story left a lasting mark on everyone who cared for him and followed his story. Owner Katie Van Slyke created the Baby Seven Scholarship Fund in 2025 to honor that legacy by investing in students who are specializing in the advancement of equine medicine.
Each year, the fund awards seven $7,000 scholarships to third- and fourth-year veterinary students pursuing careers in equine medicine. In only two years, the fund has supported fourteen students, alleviating some of their financial burden and allowing them to focus their attention on developing the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to care for horses.
By investing in the next generation of equine veterinarians, Baby Seven's impact extends far beyond his own story. Every gift helps a student move closer to graduation with less financial stress and into a career dedicated to the animals who need them most, creating a lasting difference in the lives of horses and the people who care for them.
