Theology

Grounded in Catholic theological tradition, open to all wisdom traditions and committed to academic rigor, the Theology Department educates all students at St. Thomas to become religiously literate persons who think critically, creatively and constructively about the most profound dimensions of human existence in order to engage the world's pressing challenges and to advance the common good.

In addition to our Major, the Theology Department offers six different Minors in Theology and one Certificate:

• Catholic Health Care Ethics
• Comparative Theology
• Interfaith Leadership
• General Theology
• Hispanic Lay Ministry Certificate

The Theology Department also oversees four Programs and Initiatives whose programming directly enriches the academic experience of students:

• Common Good Scholars Program
• Encountering Islam Initiative
• Encountering Judaism Initiative
