Club Sailing

The St. Thomas Club Sailing Team strives to give any students, regardless of experience, the opportunity to learn how to sail, develop their skills, and compete across the Midwest. We are a tight-knit team that loves to be on the lake!

We are seeking funds for transportation and practice gear. We practice three times per week and travel across the Midwest; being able to reimburse our drivers is necessary to continue developing our team. Also, Minnesota's fall and spring can be harsh, and drysuits make sailing in very cold weather safer for our sailors.

A Note from Genevieve Heese '29

"Hi, my name is Genevieve Heese, and this is my second year with the University of St. Thomas Sailing Club. I grew up sailing every summer and have spent the past four years teaching it, so being able to keep growing in this sport and finding a team that shares that passion has meant a lot to me. As a small and growing club, one of our biggest goals is making regular practice accessible for every member. For many students, the cost of simply attending practices can be a barrier, and we want to remove as many of those obstacles as possible. Your support directly helps us create a team environment where anyone regardless of financial situation, can show up, practice consistently, and grow in this sport. Traveling to regattas is still an exciting part of what we do, but the heart of our team is built at practice. That’s where we learn the most, support each other and develop the skills and friendships that make this sport so special. Sailing has shaped so much of who I am, and I want others to have that same opportunity. Thank you for supporting us and helping this team continue to grow."
