Club Sailing

The St. Thomas sailing team prides itself in being the stepping stone that gets college students, who would have otherwise not been involved in sailing, enthusiastic about the sport. We aim to create a fun and rewarding environment to introduce people to the sport, and help them to create a life-long passion for sailing. Our club has rapidly expanded in the past few years. Our goal for fundraising is to get the resources we need to support everyone who wants to sail with us, and to eliminate financial barriers to participation.

"Sailing as a sport is very financially inaccessible. From the cost of owning and maintaining boats, to the foul weather gear needed to sail in the wind, rain, snow, or freezing cold, the cost of the sport can drive passionate people away. By making a gift to our team, you are providing a greater pool of resources to bring newer members into our growing team. In 2021, our team started with just five members, and in just a few years we have grown to more than 30 members. In that same amount of time, we have traveled to both coasts and almost everywhere in the Midwest competing. Drive and ambition from team members is only growing! For many people on the team, me included, this team has been one of the best parts of their college experience. Our entire team is deeply grateful for gifts of any amount - they all make an impact."
