About

Club Rowing is dedicated to teaching and participating in the sport of rowing. We row out of St. Paul on the Mississippi River and race in several regattas throughout the year in the Midwest and Northeastern U.S. We are raising funds for equipment and travel fees. Some of our equipment, particularly those used by a coxswain, have not been upgraded in over a decade. Rowing equipment costs hundreds of dollars, which is one of the reasons the equipment is so dated. In order for us to row both safely and efficiently, we must have equipment that works. Equipment like our coxswain boxes are nearing the end of their lives, so we are hoping to purchase newer models to ensure the club has functioning ones for years to come.

Club Rowing travels throughout the Midwest and Northeastern United States to race. All races have entry fees. Having the full team participate in regattas costs hundreds of dollars per regatta. Gas costs and rental fees also can be costly. If the regatta is far away, we need to stay the night before, meaning we need to pay for lodging. Your gift will help us stay in safer and more reliable locations.

Hear from club member Kathryn Higgins '26

"I am a senior on the St. Thomas Club Rowing team. I first learned about the rowing program when I met the team at a race when I was a senior in high school. From there I was invited to join, and for the last three years I have been a proud member of the team. Throughout my time on the team, I've grown so much as an athlete and as a person. I've been able to travel to beautiful cities like Boston and Philidelphia, I've met some of my closest friends, and made the greatest memories out on the water. The funds we raise throughout the year go directly back into the club whether that be for equipment, traveling or providing financial support for members who may need help paying club dues. Without support from fundraising, I never would have raced on the Charles River in one of the biggest regattas in the world. Money earned from fundraising helped my friend stay on the team when she was struggling financially. The generosity of the St. Thomas community provides opportunities for students to try things they've never tried before. Your support for Club Rowing, whether it be through social media engagement or through a gift, allows our club to prosper. I thank you for your time and consideration."
