The We March for Justice Civil Rights Study Trip is a week-long intergenerational exploration of the American Black Freedom Movement in the South. A partnership between the College of Arts and Sciences, American Culture and Difference, and the Selim Center for Lifelong Learning, WMFJ includes students from ages 18 to 85. Together they journey through Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama, encountering the people and places of the movement through field experiences, museums, events, lectures, and encounters with foot soldiers of the movement. The only intergenerational tour of its kind, this trip challenges students of all ages to learn in a diverse and challenging environment, confronting together the challenging history of America’s struggle for equality and the enduring power of collective resistance.
Your financial gift will support undergraduate and graduate student participants on this trip. All ground travel, lodging, and museum entry fees are paid for undergraduate and graduate students. Our goal is to ensure that additional related costs are not a barrier for any student who wants to join us for this incredible opportunity.
All donations will be matched by the College of Arts and Sciences through a generous gift from the Mike and Linda Fiterman Family Foundation.
Thank you so much for supporting our students as we embark on our 15th trip in January 2026.
