Gifts to Honors Program Student Travel contribute to...
The Honors Program at the University of Southern Maine is a learning community designed for high-achieving students. In Honors, students are encouraged to tap into their intellectual curiosity and creativity while exploring rich topics from multiple perspectives. Honors Students interact closely with peers in seminar-style courses and receive individualized attention from exceptional faculty.
Our Honors program introduces students to innovative, interdisciplinary research opportunities, and we'd love to offer travel scholarships for students who are presenting their research at academic conferences. Presenting at academic conferences is important to our students because it exposes them to broader conversations within Honors and in their disciplines. Additionally, conference participation provides students with valuable professionalizing and networking opportunities, exposes them to opportunities for graduate education, and enables them to connect with Honors peers across the country.
Honors-specific conferences include: the National Collegiate Honors Conference, the National Society for Minorities in Honors, the New England Regional Honors Conference, etc.
