Gifts to USM Franco-American Teacher Fellowships contribute to...
At the Franco-American Collection, we are eager to expand our educational outreach program to K-12 teachers in Maine! Teaching students in K-12 classes about local history and how to use archival materials will not only help them in their future careers, but will also help them relate to history in new ways. The Maine State Social Studies Standards mention the importance of differentiating between “reliable and unreliable primary and secondary sources.” The fellowship will allow students to engage with primary sources and determine their reliability.
Field trips are often expensive for teachers, and in order to help defray that cost, we are fundraising to support four (4) $500 fellowships for the academic year 2024-2025. This money will allow K-12 teachers and their students to visit us in-person! Thank you so much for your contribution to our efforts to meet our mission to preserve and promote Franco-American history and culture using this K-12 Teacher Fellowship program.
