About

This year, the Class of 1991 is celebrating its 35th reunion, and we are doing it the way John would have wanted — by investing in the next generation.

The John C. Scully Scholarship was established by John's classmates, family, and loved ones in his memory following his tragic death in the 101 California Street shooting in 1993. John loved the ocean and the outdoors, and he embodied the kind of person USF Law was built to develop. This scholarship reflects that. It supports students who carry forward the values that were important to him.

A past recipient has gone on to a career dedicated to environmental protection and public service. After receiving the scholarship, he joined the California Coastal Commission, where he began as an intern and later advanced to a Legal Enforcement Officer. Today, he investigates coastal development violations and presents enforcement cases at public hearings, building meaningful experience in environmental law while helping protect California’s coastline — a career rooted in the same values John embodied.
