Your gift to fight inequity and promote social justice in public education is being matched!

Anonymous donors are generously matching gifts dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000 to the Marin Diverse Educator Scholarship. This Scholarship will benefit School of Education students of color, who are currently (or have intentions to) teach at a K-12 public school in Marin County. Please make your gift today to support this important scholarship.

“Change starts with listening, respecting, and recognizing the expertise of teachers of color, parents of color, and communities of color. The more we can attract strong USF-educated teachers of color who are equipped to fight for social justice, the more we’re going to make change,” says Jan McDougal MA '11, who set up the Marin Diverse Educator Scholarship with her husband Steve.

McDougal recounts her experience at USF where they, “taught me how to be effective as a white teacher to students of color — those works, and the classes I took at USF pushed me to consider the ways in which systemic oppression weighed on my students and the ways I could fight it by empowering my students with the tools to succeed.”

Your gift to the newly-created Marin Diverse Educator Scholarship fund will go a long way in helping students of color at the School of Education learn to be advocates for their own students, to lead in the school, to promote social justice, and continue the fight against systemic oppression. Please make your gift today to get it matched, and help us by spreading the word about this important scholarship.
