Immigration & Deportation Defense Clinic

As a student in the Immigration and Deportation Defense Clinic, students work directly with unaccompanied immigrant children and families in removal proceedings before the San Francisco Immigration Court. Most clients are seeking asylum after fleeing violence in the Northern Triangle of Central America and Mexico, and many children qualify for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status. Students represent these vulnerable clients and help them navigate complex immigration and state court systems, making a meaningful impact on their lives. As part of the clinic, students join a team managing more than 500 active cases alongside two attorneys, three paralegals, and a social services coordinator. They work with individuals who have experienced extreme violence and trauma and witness their strength and resilience every day.
