The Department of Environmental and Ocean Sciences (EOS) is dedicated to academic excellence, offering students a rigorous, multidisciplinary education in the natural sciences paired with exceptional hands-on experiences. Our programs prepare students for success in graduate school and careers in the marine and environmental sciences.
A hallmark of the EOS curriculum is the capstone experience, where students conduct research alongside USD faculty during the summer. These opportunities are transformative, but research funding is competitive, and we often struggle to support every student who seeks this experience.
