SASE Fall 2024 National Collegiate Conference

What is SASE?

The Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers, or SASE, is a new collegiate organization, formed in the beginning of 2024, which strives to create, improve, and bring opportunities, specifically in the fields of STEM, to Asian-Identifying students, who have been historically underrepresented at the University of San Diego. Through general body meetings, academic events, such as linkedin and resume workshops, as well as professional events, such as our 1st Inaugural “Professional Asians in the Workplace” event held in May 2024, SASE hopes to continue uplifting the voices and character of Asian-Identifying students to achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals, for years to come. USD SASE was formed in Spring 2024 and is in the process of formally becoming a collegiate chapter of the national society.

About SASE Fall National Collegiate Conference

The SASE Fall National Collegiate Conference is a nation-wide conference, where SASE student chapters across the country come together to engage in meaningful and engaging conversations. This year’s convention will be in Boston, Massachusetts from October 10th to the 12th. The convention will have workshops, speaker panels, and networking opportunities, such as the STEM Career Fair. The SASE National Collegiate Conference provides professional development opportunities for SASE members, gain access to wide-scale opportunities, and secure internships and jobs in their field of study.

What will your donations fund & Why are they necessary?

The more funds we can raise, the more members we can take to the SASE National Conference. Your donations will be used to provide travel scholarships to our members, which covers air travel and lodging expenses. USD SASE executive board members will apply for funding from USD Associated Student Government as well, which typically only covers conference registration costs. With the 2024 conference being located in Boston, the travel expenses will be higher than usual. Your financial support will allow us to include as many students as we can to attend the conference.

Funding our participation in the National Conference supports our members in terms of professional growth and kick-starting our careers. As a token of our appreciation, any donations $25 or more will receive a SASE-branded wooden coaster, designed and created by our members in our own engineering facilities.
