Support Law School Most Critical Needs!
The Law School’s Most Critical Needs Fund looks to the future, providing flexibility to address USD School of Law’s most pressing priorities. Gifts to this fund make a lasting impact by supporting the areas of greatest need, building a resilient future for the USD legal community.
Sustaining Faculty Scholarly Work: The fund sustains critical faculty research, academic scholarship, and publications. Supporting faculty in these areas allows USD Law to attract and retain distinguished legal scholars, advance new ideas in law and policy, and ensure the continued production of high-impact research that shapes the legal profession locally, nationally, and globally.
Experiential Advocacy Practicum: Providing all 1L students with opportunities to experience litigation skills and strategies during their first semester of law school. The Spring Semester is dedicated to the study of transaction law.
Graduate Jobs Initiative: Stipends provided to recent USD Law graduates who accept public interest positions, helping them gain meaningful early-career experience while serving the community. In addition, USD Law offers a range of initiatives to support graduates in securing legal employment, including the Office of Career & Professional Development, which provides resources and personalized guidance for job searching.
Supporting Academic Centers and Institutes: The Most Critical Needs Fund also supports USD Law’s academic centers and institutes, helping advance research, policy, and practical legal training. These centers provide valuable opportunities for students and faculty to engage in meaningful scholarship, policy development, and community service.
Centers and institutes funded include:
Center for Corporate and Securities Law
Center for Health Law Policy and Bioethics
Center for Intellectual Property Law and Markets
Center for Employment and Labor Policy
Center for Complex Litigation
Center for the Study of Constitutional Originalism
Institute for Law and Philosophy
Center for Computation, Mathematics and the Law
Institute for Law and Religion
Crucial Student Initiatives: USD Law students are able to participate in unique and fulfilling opportunities for USD’s many student organizations, journals, advocacy teams, and the Innocent Fund.
Supporting this fund is one of the most effective ways to ensure student success, foster academic excellence, and strengthen the broader San Diego community.
