The Department of Psychology welcomes students into the intellectually challenging endeavor of understanding human behavior. The psychology curriculum immerses students in learning experiences that develop their capacity to understand behavior across multiple levels of analysis, from neurons to culture. Students work closely with faculty in the classroom, research labs, and as they chart their path to life after UR. Meaningful mentoring relationships are one of the department’s defining characteristics. Psychology faculty have active research programs that allow undergraduate students to collaborate on creating new knowledge and have it supported through research and travel grants, with opportunities to present at conferences and publish their research. Psychology majors and minors graduate with the skills necessary to analyze and solve problems related to people’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors toward happier, healthier, and more productive lives.
Your support promotes access to unique experiences for UR psychology students. This year, these opportunities included travel to professional conferences for students early in their college career and support for our inaugural Craig Kinsley Lecture series with guest speaker Dr. Erica Glasper. In the next few years, the department is focusing on initiatives to better prepare undergraduates for the workforce through curriculum revision and expansion of student internship opportunities. Your gifts may be used to support these goals as well.
