The Department of Health Studies is a vibrant and growing department that equips students with theoretical and empirical frameworks for understanding the social, cultural, environmental, biological, psychological, ethical, economic, legal, and policy contexts that shape individual and population health. The department offers courses in areas such as health policy, global health, and epidemiology. Health studies is by definition a multidisciplinary field, and additional health-related courses for the major and minor are offered by departments across the School of Arts & Sciences as well as the School of Business and the School of Leadership Studies. Department alumni work in medicine and other clinical professions, public heath, healthcare policy and management, and many other health-related fields.
Your support provides invaluable resources so that our students can engage in experiential learning through public health and healthcare internships, field trips with HS faculty members, research with HS faculty members, shadowing experiences with UR alumni in the health sector, and study abroad opportunities that focus on health and medicine.
