About

The UPIKE Black Student Union (BSU) was established in 2004 by Derrick "Big Show" Silas. The purpose of the BSU is to create more diverse activities for the student body, raise cultural awareness at the university, and promote a more positive image.

BSU also leads the Black Student Caucus which are representatives from each class and they are a resource for minority students to voice any issues that they have on campus.

Our BSU is the first nationally recognized local chapter by the National Black Student Union in the commonwealth of Kentucky and is a founding chapter of the Kentucky Black Student Union Conference.

This group is not closed but open to all students, faculty and staff.
