Advancing Coral Research from Lab to Reef πŸͺΈπŸ€ΏπŸŒŠ

Grad student Alexandra Zelaya surfs the crest of coral research by thermal preconditioning coral in the lab before diving into outplanting her corals in the Florida Keys. Zelaya uses the CISME (Coral In Situ Metabolism System) to calculate respiration and photosynthesis rates. The device was developed by scientists at UNCW. CISME is a non-invasive system to measure coral metabolic rates under natural conditions.
